i Ricchi has built a business around honoring and empowering women, and for Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating women leaders, wine-makers and inviting everyone to join us! On March 8, we celebrated International Women’s Day by giving ladies 50% off their bill all day, and we hosted a special happy hour for alumnae of all-women’s colleges. On March 10, we hosted the “Beyond the Ceiling” Launch Party to celebrate a new podcast featuring amazing women.
Women Wine-Makers
Modern-day Italy still has a more traditional view of women’s roles than the U.S. Statistically, the Bureau of Labor shows that an average of 53.5% of working-age civilian women were employed in the U.S. from 2010-2012, but only 34.7% of Italian women were employed; but this is growing. There are a number of women pioneers stepping out in the wine-making business. I’m highlighting these women by participating in the Spring Wine Fling, March 21-26, offering a Wine Flight by women wine-makers: 3 wines and 3 regions for $15. I also have a special evening planned at the end of March: The Grand Dames of Italian Wine, Wednesday, March 30 where you’ll learn from a wine specialist about four of Italy’s most prominent wineries and the women who are influencing them.
